Enhanced oil & gas recovery requires a better reservoir description for optimizing the production. In this context, IFP Energies nouvelles Enesgies nouvelles makes its knowledge and know-how in the field of enhanced recovery available to its customers, in particular for the study of certain reservoirs where characterization and monitoring are especially complex.
Thanks to the data gathered on these fields, the partner operator enjoys privileged access to IFPEN's latest results, before they are made available on the market.

FracaFlowTM is the new generation software for fracture modeling. Based on OpenFlow platform, it enables geologists and reservoir engineers to predict the distribution of networks of fractures and take them into account in the dynamic model of a reservoir. It is used in particular to determine the fracture equivalent permeability from analysis and modelling of the network of fractures.

PumaFlowTM is IFPEN's new generation reservoir simulator featuring rigorous physical formulations, high performance computing, brand-new user-oriented interface and work environment. Based on OpenFlow platform, it can be used for optimizing production and improving recovery of oil and gas fields and includes advanced physics for EOR processes for both sandstone and fractured carbonate reservoirs (double media option).

CondorFlowTM is the new generation software for advanced history match. Based on OpenFlow platform, it enables to take into account production data to match an integrated geoscience workflow. CondorFlow goes beyond the classic history matching procedure, which tends to iterate on dynamic parameters only: CondorFlow adjusts all uncertainty parameters throughout the workflow, from geological modeling through upscaling to reservoir simulation, using innovative methods such as Gradual Deformation Method. The workflow can be a combination of any Third Parties modeling tools at both static and dynamic steps. Condor methodology is continuously updated through the MC3 JIP.

Cougar/EasySenseTM is used to quantify the uncertainties and rapidly evaluate the risk in connection with the development of a field. Compatible with most of reservoir simulators, this software can be used to obtain quick answers and to perform sensitivity analyses. Cougar methodology is continuously updated through the Cougar JIP.

CobraFlowTM is dedicated to the static property modeling and upscaling. It offers both new and experienced geologists solutions to define the best static reservoir model. Working under Windows and Linux operating systems, all the modeling is done through the very user friendly interface of the OpenFlowSuite Platform. An integrated approach is made possible by linking CobraFlow to PumaFlow, CondorFlow or EasySense, enabling you to test the sensibility of the geological uncertainties.

The software of the OpenFlow Suite are marketed by Beicip-Franlab.
Darcylog is a tool that measures the permeability of the cuttings recovered at the well-head. Darcylog is marketed by CYDAREX.
Radiagreen® is a line of chemicals developed in partnership with the chemical company. These products, derived from biomass, are naturally nontoxic and rapidly biodegradable. They are used in drilling and production to minimize damage to reservoirs and allow the rapid bringing in of a well by injection. Radiagreen® is marketed by Oleon.
Stargel is a line of microgels developed in partnership with SEPPIC, a chemical company. These products are dedicated to water shut off, sand control and conformance control applications with excellent tolerance to high temperature, salinity and environmental constraints. The technology has been validated through the Stargel JIP sponsored by GDF, NEXEN, STATOIL-HYDRO and TOTAL and is currently marketed by SEPPIC and LIPESA.
Chemical enhanced oil recovery: IFPEN/Rhodia joined offer
Rhodia and IFPEN launch a joint services and consulting offer targeting chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery activities for the petroleum industry. The objective is to offer oil companies solutions adapted to different operating conditions so as to maximize the oil production from reservoirs. For a large number of oil fields, this innovative approach could increase average oil extraction rates by 20%, currently estimated at 35%.
This new Rhodia / IFPEN service range will help operators' efficiency in the development of their Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) activities through a series of flexible solutions in different phases:
* Analysis of historical reservoir production data and proposing solutions;
* Laboratory development of chemical formulations optimized to meet oil field conditions;
* Development and optimization of demonstration pilots and implementation on field scale via simulation and monitoring tools;
* Assistance for pilot implementation and development through the operational phase;
* Large-scale supply of the chemical solutions defined.
