In order to ensure an industrial outlet for the results of its research, IFP Energies nouvelles has signed a number of industrial partnerships, both with its subsidiaries and with third parties. This technology transfer between basic research, applied research and industrial development, which is a core priority for European and government policies, aims to increase the competitiveness of the automotive industry through innovation.
Within IFP Energies nouvelles, the Powertrains business relies on its subsidiary D2T to create a continuum in skills, from exploratory research right through to industrial application in the fields of powertrain engineering, studies and tests. Working in collaboration with D2T on subjects driving technological innovation, IFP Energies nouvelles is involved in large-scale industrial projects and ensures the more extensive dissemination of technological innovations that help cut the fuel consumption and pollutant emissions of vehicles engines.
Founded in 1989, D2T is a powertrain design and testing company. D2T pursues an active policy of development and improvement of its internationally distributed test bench products, including the permanent upgrading of its leading products MORPHEE (test bench management) and Osiris (combustion analysis system) softwares.
In 2006, D2T changed scale through the acquisition of the ETSm company, which added an on-site technical assistance business to D2T's sales offer, centered on engine engineering, studies, and testing. In terms of resources, the company's measurement facilities and workforce (now more than 300 people) were doubled. This expansion of the company - and better coverage of the market - can be expected in particular to result in wider and faster dissemination of IFP Energies nouvelles's R&D results that can reduce the fuel consumption and emissions of vehicles.
