The future US10, EU VI, Jap NLT regulations demand now the development of new heavy-duty technologies .
IFP Energies nouvelles's teams can call on all of the know-how and tools developed in connection with applications in passenger cars and commercial vehicles.
On the strength of its dual expertise in engines and fuels, IFP Energies nouvelles provides its industrial partners with innovative solutions.
Some ambitious European programs have put their trust in IFP Energies nouvelles. For example, IFP Energies nouvelles coordinates the Hyspace program, which developed an LTC engine concept for heavy-duty vehicles.
IFP Energies nouvelles is participating in the Two Mode Engine (TOM) project supported by the Agence Nationale pour la Recherche (ANR), in collaboration with Volvo's Powertrain unit. Our researchers have thus developed a combustion system capable of operating in HCCI (Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition) mode over a broad range of conditions, thereby reducing NOx emissions by more than 90%.
In particular, IFP Energies nouvelles is continuing its work with the CTI (Céramiques Techniques et Industrielles) company with the aim of achieving industrial validation of a low-cost particulate filter.
Development and evaluation work is being carried out on a number of technologies, including NOx traps, 4-way catalysis and selective catalytic reduction of NOx (SCR), etc.
