Production

IFP Energies nouvelles teams have developed powerful testing facilities: Lyre loop, GOwSP separation platform, multiphase loop, etc. These facilities form the basis of studies on specific cases related in particular to the problems of management of the Flow Assurance.

The lyre loop: study of Flow Assurance issues under conditions as close as possible to those in the field

Equipments / Products created by IFPEN's research

  • Nidds deposit detector - Nidds is a non-intrusive deposit detector that is especially well suited to the case of paraffins. The tool was developed jointly by IFP Energies nouvelles with Cybernetix and Total. Marketed by the Cybernetix robotics company, it serves to optimize the frequency of scraping or the use of additives to prevent paraffin deposits.

  • Clip-Riser™ - Clip Riser™ is a connector developped by IFP Energies nouvelles. It makes it possible to drill at depths of 3,000 m of water. The maneuver time is reduced as a result of its rapid connector and it is entirely safe. This solution is rapidly adopted by the market. Ongoing developments aim to reduce its mass so that it can be used from lighter floating supports, making it possible to drill at even greater water depths.
  • Thermal insulation gels - IFPEN has developed thermal insulation gels for undersea pipes in partnership with the SAIPEM company. Some of them, the phase change gels (ILS) store heat during the flow phases and restitute it during the stop phases. Result: the thermal performance of the pipes is improved. This technology is marketed by SAIPEM.

Software created by IFPEN's research

Deeplines® enables engineering and oil companies to design and optimize oil pipes for their offshore projects in both deep and shallow water (oil production lines, water and gas injection lines, umbilical, anchoring lines, etc.). Deeplines® is marketed by the Principia engineering company.

Sour gas treatment processes

AdvAmine®
Work has recently been done by Total and IFP Energies nouvelles to improve the performance of existing acid gas treatment units. The results have led to the creation of treatment processes for these gases, distributed by Prosernat under the generic name AdvAmine® :

  • HiLoadDEA, which uses the chemical compound DEA for the complete elimination of CO2 and of H2S,
  • MDEAmax to selectively remove H2S,
  • energizedMDEA an activated MDEA chemical compound used for the complete elimination of CO2 and H2S. In addition, MDEA, which is easier to regenerate, yields energy savings.

Sprex® process
Sprex process is an innovative technology to recover up to 90 percent of the sulfur contained in raw gases, and part of any CO2 present. Used for pretreatment, this process can very significantly reduce the size of the equipment, along with the investment and operating costs. Another advantage is that the sour gases are produced in liquid form, at high pressure, making it very economical to reinject them into the reservoirs.

>> SPREX®, a new H2S pre-extraction process is an innovative technology jointly developed by IFPEN, Total and Prosernat

Joint Industry-funded Projects (JIP)

IFP Energies nouvelles organizes and coordinates collaborative research projects bringing together several industrial partners who jointly fund a program designed to solve a given problem. This formula means that the financial risks can be shared upstream and the research results downstream.

COLD START 5 - Waxy Crude oil Flow Restartability at Low Temperatures.

HYSIFLO II - Hydrate Slurry Impact on the FlowProperties of Oil Fields.

AHToL - Additives and Hydrates at the Top of Line.

The final reports of completed JIP projects are still available.
