Les Rencontres Scientifiques de l'IFP: Deep Saline Aquifers for Geological Storage of CO2 and Energy

27-29 May 2009
IFP/Rueil-Malmaison

RS Deep saline aquifers

During the coming decades, an escalating demand is expected for accessing the large storage capacities that may be localized in the pore space of deep saline waterbearing reservoir rocks in sedimentary basins. Potentially this space could be suitable for hosting the seasonal or long-term storage of a variety of substances (natural gas, energy storage, CO2).

Around 240 participants has attended this international research conference supported by Schlumberger.
It has been a great opportunity for experts from academic research, applied research and industry to present their approaches and to exchange ideas and experience on upcoming applications of aquifer storage for an efficient use of energy in a preserved environment.
