According to the latest 2010 INPI (Institut national de la propriété industrielle - French National Industrial Property Institute) list of patent applicants in France (number of published patents), IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) ranks tenth, on a par with the previous year.
With 176 patents published in 2010, IFPEN is amongst the three top French research bodies alongside the CEA (French Atomic Energy Commission) and the CNRS (French National Scientific Research Center). A result which, if related to the number of employees (1,737), would even put IFPEN at the top.
Of these 176 patents, 92 were related to New Energy Technologies (NETs): biofuels, alternative powertrains, CO2 capture and storage, etc. Such a significant number of NET patents underlines IFPEN’s innovation strategy supporting the setting up new green industrial sectors.
These results are the culmination of IPFEN’s active innovation and development policy, aimed at protecting research results, ensuring technology transfer and creating value and jobs.
IFP Energies nouvelles is a world-class public-sector research, industrial innovation and training center active in the fields of energy, transport and the environment. Its mission is to provide public players and industry with efficient, economical, clean and sustainable technologies to take up the challenges facing society in terms of climate change, energy diversification and water resource management.
