IFP and BIO-UV are joining forces to develop a new range of products for water treatment using U.V. radiation

30 March 2009

IFP Energies nouvelles BIO-UV

IFP and BIO-UV have just signed a partnership agreement to develop a new range of wastewater disinfection equipment using energy-efficient, high-performance UV lamps.

This partnership was set up as part of IFP’s technological support program aimed at helping SMEs bring their innovations to market. For more than twenty years, IFP has been a pioneer in supporting the economic development of SMEs, by giving them access to its technical resources, its scientific expertise and its know-how in the industrialization of innovative products and processes, through a system of fair R&D partnerships. In this case, IFP will be providing BIO-UV with its expertise in the field of hydraulic modeling.

This partnership will enable UV reactor performance to be developed faster, with enhanced reliability. With this technology transfer, BIO-UV will be able to acquire additional operational skills in the field of hydraulic design studies and take advantage of high-level technical know-how.

"Together with BIO-UV, IFP is happy to help develop innovation in more environmentally friendly water treatment. This cooperation also reflects our commitment to developing eco-technologies", declared Georgia Plouchart, South-East regional representative of IFP's SME Relations Division.

A new range of UV reactors is expected to be marketed for the second half of 2009. Performance will be certified through a biodosimetry study using the Önorm protocol, which is recognized throughout Europe. "BIO-UV should thus continue to expand on the drinking and industrial water treatment markets, both in France and for Export, which accounts for 45% of the company's turnover", declared Xavier Bayle, Technical Director at BIO-UV.

About IFP support to SMEs

For over 20 years, IFP has been supporting SMEs in developing their innovations. These collaborative ventures concern fields as varied as new energy technologies, biotechnologies, engines, pollution-abatement techniques, measuring instruments, industrial facilities and equipment, etc. From 20 to 30 new collaborative ventures are launched every year.
The partnership can take a variety of forms: technology validation via numerical simulations, prototype testing, support with construction of an industrial pilot, as well as legal assistance, technological watch and networking.
