Exploration

IFP Energies nouvelles offers the oil industry basin characterization services. Objectives:

  • solve the specific problems posed by some basins in terms of characterizing the fluids and reconstituting their maturation,
  • optimizing the investigation of basins, which requires improving the tools used to simulate their history and cross-checking the results against seismic data.

Software created by IFPEN's research

  • TemisFlow is a series of programs used to quantify a petroleum system with a view to its exploration. These programs can in particular predict the quality of the oils, the risks of biodegradation, and risks due to abnormal pressures. TemisFlow is marketed by Beicip-Franlab.
    >> Further information on TemisFlow

  • Dionisos is a program that simulates in 3D the gradual sedimentological infill of a sedimentary basin over time. Dionisos is marketed by Beicip-Franlab.
    >> Further information on Dionisos

  • Ceres is a program that very precisely incorporates the role of faults in the evolution of a basin. In particular, it takes the impact of these faults on the migration of hydrocarbons and on pressure regimes into account. Ceres is marketed by Beicip-Franlab.
    >> Further information on Ceres

  • Qubs is a program used to quantify the risks associated with basin modelling uncertainties. Qubs is marketed by Beicip-Franlab.
    >> Further information on Qubs

  • Kine3D provides a complete process for building and restoring structural models in complex zones . Kine3D is marketed by Paradigm.
    >>Paradigm website

  • Wedm (Wave Equation Depth Migration) is a 3D wave-equation pre-stack depth migration software application for Linux clusters and is marketed by Parallel Geoscience Corporation.
    >>Parallel Geoscience website

  • SAM (structural analog models) is a module of DAKS™ (Digital Analog Knowledge System) and provides web access to 340 physical structure analog models simulating structural evolution in various tectonic regimes. SAM is distributed by C&C Reservoirs.

Joint Industry-funded Projects (JIP)

IFPEN organizes and coordinates collaborative research projects bringing together several industrial partners who jointly fund a program designed to solve a given problem. This formula means that the financial risks can be shared upstream and the research results downstream.

DIONISOS 4 and Extension - Advanced basin-scale 3D stratigraphic modeling.

COMPAS - Cretaceous outcrop analog from Argentina for microbial pre-salt Atlantic series.

JIP Compas (

)

GASH with GFZ - Gas shales in Europe.

Final reports of completed JIP projects are still available.

IFPEN Non-Exclusive Regional Reports:

The Petroleum Evaluation of Sedimentary Basins And Thrust Belts in France

Non exclusive regional studies were achieved by IFPEN at Departments of Finance and Industry 's request, in order to promote the prospective french areas and to help companies to evaluate the petroleum potential of the french sedimentary basins. These studies encompass the Metropolitan France as well as some overseas departments and territories.
