Biographies

Olivier Appert, Chairman and CEO

Olivier Appert qualified as a mining engineer at the École Polytechnique.
After serving in the Lyon Department of Mines, and in a number of positions in the French Ministry of Industry and on the Prime Minister's Staff, he served as Deputy Director of the Minister of Industry's Staff from 1984 to 1986.
He was appointed Head of Strategy at Télécommunications Radioélectriques et Téléphoniques (TRT), a business firm, in 1987, and Director of Hydrocarbons at the Ministry of Industry in 1989. He joined IFP's General Management team and took charge of research and development in 1994, and was appointed Vice-President of ISIS, an IFP-controlled company that holds stakes in firms active in the petroleum and oil service and supply sector, in 1998.
Olivier Appert became head of long-term cooperation and policy analysis at the International Energy Agency in October 1999, and was appointed IFP Chairman and CEO in 2003.

Pascal Barthélemy
Pascal Barthélemy, Executive Vice-President

Pascal Barthélemy holds a doctorate in physics and chemistry.
He joined Rhodia in 1985, then named Rhône-Poulenc, where he was in charge of research and development work, as R&D Director for Europe in Rhodia subsidiaries in particular.
Pascal Barthélemy has been Director of External Relations and Industrial & Sustainable Development for R&D since 2004.
He has founded and been at the helm of Axelera, the Lyons and Rhône-Alpes Chemistry-Environment competitiveness cluster.
In 2008, Pascal Barthélemy was appointed Executive Vice-President in charge of Research and Development.

 

Georges Picard
Georges Picard, Executive Vice-President

Georges Picard qualified at ESSEC, and joined the Sales Division at Automobiles Peugeot in 1981. He joined IFP as a comptroller in 1984, and became Assistant to the Budget Director in 1987.
He moved to SYSECA (a Thomson Group computer services company) in 1989 and returned to IFP as Assistant to the Secretary General in 1992. He was appointed Deputy Secretary General in 1995, Financial Director in 1997 and Executive Vice President in 2001.
He is also a member of the Axens, Beicip Inc., IFP Investissements and ISIS Développements boards, Chairman of IFP Technologies Canada Inc., and Chairman of the Beicip Franlab Supervisory Board.
