IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) announces two new appointments:

Raphaël Huyghe has been appointed Director of the Energy Systems Business Unit

A graduate of the École Centrale de Lyon and IFP School, Raphaël Huyghe, 50, has over 20 years' experience in research and innovation (R&I) in the fields of processes, catalysis and sustainable chemistry.

He began his career at IFPEN in 2001 as a process engineer and then project manager, working in the fields of natural gas treatment, petrochemicals and biotechnologies. In 2010, he was appointed CEO of the Axelera competitiveness cluster.

Returning to IFPEN in 2011, he led large-scale R&I projects, including BioButterFly, a collaborative project with Michelin and Axens for the production of bio-based butadiene. As head of the Molecular Catalysis department from 2020, he focused his research on key themes in the energy and ecological transition, such as CO2 recovery and plastics recycling.

In 2023, Raphaël Huyghe became Head of Programs at the Chemistry for Industry Business Unit. He drew up IFPEN's strategy for the development and deployment of decarbonization technologies for industry, and managed a portfolio of projects in the field of CO2 capture, utilization and storage (CCUS).

Florence Delprat-Jannaud has been appointed Scientific Director

Florence Delprat-Jannaud is a physicist who graduated from the Ecole normale supérieure de Cachan. She also holds a PhD in earth sciences from Paris Sud University (Paris XI).

She joined IFPEN in 1989 to pursue a career in geophysics, developing expertise in the field of seismic imaging. She also coordinated a variety of research projects, covering cross-cutting geoscientific fields, such as the geological storage of CO2.

Florence Delprat-Jannaud won the 2014 Etoiles de l’Europe award for the coordination of the European SiteChar project dedicated to the characterization of CO2 storage sites.

In 2016, she led the Ile-de-France Geosciences Scientific Interest Group, an earth sciences and digital sciences research network dedicated to the fields of energy, resources and the environment.

In 2017, Florence Delprat-Jannaud was appointed Program Manager at the Energy Resources Business Unit, focusing on underground resources and usages for the energy transition, as well as CO2 capture and storage. Florence Delprat-Jannaud was also elected President of the CO2 Club in 2020.

In 2023, Florence Delprat-Jannaud was appointed Director of the Energy Products Business Unit. She was elected to the Académie des technologies (French Academy of Technologies) in 2024.
