Pierre-Franck Chevet reappointed Chairman and CEO of IFPEN
A decree issued by the Council of Ministers on 2 July 2025 saw Pierre-Franck Chevet reappointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN). He thus begins his second term in office, after five years as Chairman and CEO of the Institute.
This reappointment marks IFPEN's continued commitment to the energy and ecological transition in key areas such as CO₂ capture and storage, offshore wind power, sustainable fuels and plastics and metals recycling, in support of public policies and industry.
Pierre-Franck Chevet, 63, a graduate of the École Polytechnique and ENSAE (School of Statistic and Economic Management), is an engineer from the the École des Mines.
He began his career in 1986 at the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN). From 1995 to 1999, he was Director of the Regional Directorate for Industry, Research and the Environment (DRIRE) and the National Agency for the Promotion of Research (ANVAR) of the Alsace region. He was then appointed Director of DRIRE for the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, while also serving as Director of the École des mines engineering school in Douai.
In 2005, he joined the Prime Minister's cabinet as head of the Industry, Energy, Environment and Innovation unit. From 2007 to 2012, he was Director General for Energy and Climate in the French Ministry of Energy.
From 2012 to 2018, he was Chairman of the ASN. In 2019, he joined the French General Council for the Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology (CGE) where he was responsible for several inter-ministerial missions.
In June 2020, Pierre-Franck Chevet took over as Chairman and CEO of IFPEN.
