As Europe seeks to accelerate the deployment of e-fuels to decarbonize air and maritime transport while strengthening its industrial sovereignty, significant challenges remain in turning this ambition into an industrial reality. On October 15, 2026, a seminar titled "‘Made in Europe’ E-fuels: Challenges for Successful Deployment" was held at the Maison Irène et Frédéric Joliot-Curie in Brussels.
Co-organized by the CEA and IFP Energies nouvelles (IFPEN) - two leading French research and technology organizations committed to developing low-carbon energy solutions - the event brought together stakeholders from across the entire e-fuel value chain, including industry representatives, technology developers, end-users, research organizations, and public institutions.
The seminar provided a comprehensive overview of the European e-fuel landscape, covering everything from policy ambitions and regulatory frameworks to technological developments, industrial-scale implementation, and project deployment. It also addressed the primary obstacles currently hindering the sector's emergence and explored key levers to accelerate market adoption, such as investment frameworks, industrialization pathways, innovation, and cost reduction. Through expert presentations and high-level panel discussions, participants had the opportunity to exchange ideas, share experiences, and help shape a competitive, resilient, and sustainable European e-fuel industry.
