The hydro-sedimentary and geomorphological impact of storm Alex on the Roya catchment area (Alpes-Maritimes, south-east France)

The Tinée, Vésubie and Roya valleys in south-east France were exposed to the full force of storm Alex on 2 and 3 October 2020. This storm was triggered by a fast-developing low-pressure system over the Atlantic, which came into contact with a mass of warm, moist air from the Mediterranean, causing unprecedented rainfall in the hinterland of the Alpes-Maritimes region.
